Roborock Qrevo S5V review: a deep cleaner with one weak spot

The Qrevo S5V pairs 12,000 Pa suction and a zero-tangle main brush with a FlexiArm mop and a dock that empties, refills, washes and warm-air dries. Independent tests put its deep carpet cleaning and mopping near the top of the class, though pet hair results vary between testers,, but obstacle avoidance is poor and the mop wash is unheated.

My verdict: is the Roborock Qrevo S5V worth it?

The Roborock Qrevo S5V is better at the cleaning itself than its price suggests. Independent tests show excellent deep carpet cleaning, strong pet hair pickup and zero hair wrap on the main brush, and mopping that beats the average on dried stains. Its big weakness is obstacle avoidance, so it suits tidy homes best. At a discount, it is one of the best-value cleaners in the Qrevo range.

Across Vacuum Wars, GearLab, Android Authority and owner reports on Reddit, the picture is consistent: a capable, low-maintenance everyday cleaner for mixed hard floors and carpets.

Pet hair is the one area where testers disagree. Vacuum Wars measured 92% pickup on carpet, while GearLab saw it push light fur around and leave clumps along edges.

Clear the floor before each run, and at a sale price around $629 it is easy to recommend.

First impressions of the Roborock Qrevo S5V

The Qrevo S5V looks like a classic Qrevo: a tall, ribbed dock with a round robot underneath and a LiDAR turret on top.

There is nothing flashy about it, and that is fine.

This is the model in the range that puts its money into the cleaning hardware rather than into cameras and extras.

The robot measures about 13.8 × 13.9 × 3.8 inches, low enough to slip under many sofas and beds.

The dock is the part to plan around. It is relatively large, so check where it will go before you order.

Rugs and carpets are where the S5V does its best work.

What the Qrevo S5V actually is

The Qrevo S5V is a robot vacuum and mop with an all-in-one dock.

A brushless motor delivers 12,000 Pa of HyperForce suction.

The rubberized DuoDivide main brush is split in two, so hair is guided between the halves instead of wrapping around the roller.

Roborock says the main and side brushes are SGS-certified for a 0% hair tangling rate.

Two spinning mop pads turn at 200 rpm, and a FlexiArm swings one of them outward to reach corners and furniture legs.

The mops lift about 0.4 inch on low-pile carpet, so it can vacuum and mop in the same scheduled run, and the app offers 30 water-flow levels.

A LiDAR turret on top maps your home and plans efficient cleaning routes.

The dock: what it does for you

The dock empties the robot into a bag that stores up to around 10 weeks of dust.

It refills the robot water tank, washes the mop pads and dries them with warm air to prevent odors.

Roborock says one tank of water covers up to 3,552 square feet.

The mop wash itself uses unheated water, unlike the Qrevo 2 Pro and Curv models.

Warm-air drying is the feature that matters most day to day, because it keeps the pads from developing odors between runs.

There are two gaps at this price. There is no automatic detergent dispensing, so you add cleaning solution to the clean water tank yourself.

And the dock is relatively large, so it needs a dedicated spot.

Placement tip: Measure your spot before you order. Pick a place on hard flooring near an outlet, with open floor in front so the robot can drive straight in.

Carpet and deep cleaning

This is where the S5V stands out.

In Vacuum Wars testing, it removed 92% of embedded sand from medium-pile carpet, the fourth-best result out of more than 150 robots.

The average robot manages about 75%.

That also beat the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra, which managed 81% in the same test.

GearLab saw about 80% of scattered debris removed from its test carpet in a single pass. The carpet looked clean, but some fine sand stayed embedded in the fibers.

Android Authority found it handled everyday debris on hard floors and low-pile carpet without trouble.

Pet hair and tangling

The same testing found 92% pickup of flattened pet hair from carpet, against an 81% average.

The main brush had zero hair wrapped around it in a 7-inch hair test, where the average robot ends up with 38%.

GearLab was less impressed. It picked up fur well in open areas but sometimes pushed lighter hair around and left clumps near edges and corners, scoring 5.1 for pet hair.

The two results are not really in conflict: a brush that never tangles is not the same as a robot that catches every strand.

For light to moderate shedding and regular runs, it should keep up. Heavy shedders may need extra passes or an occasional manual vacuum.

Pet owner tip: Schedule short daily runs instead of one long weekly clean. Fur is easier to pick up before it gets trampled into the carpet and drifts into corners.

Hard floors and crevices

On hard floors, it picked up debris of all sizes with little scattering.

It is weaker in floor crevices, where its lower measured suction shows.

Vacuum Wars bench numbers explain why. It measured 16 CFM of airflow, just under the 16.4 CFM average, and its sealed suction came in more than 40% below the average robot in the same test.

Its crevice pickup score was 1.5, against a 2.0 average.

Those modest figures make its carpet results more impressive, since brush design and floor contact do much of the work. Still, expect to vacuum gaps and corners by hand now and then.

Mopping

Mopping is the other big strength. Vacuum Wars gave it 217 points overall, against a 188 average and 155 for the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra.

On dried-on stains it scored 120, against a 93 average.

GearLab saw it remove a dried coffee stain completely, leaving a light sheen rather than a sticky film, although the floor needed time to dry.

The FlexiArm pad helps along edges.

It does use more water than most. Vacuum Wars measured about 25% more water left on the floor than average, which can mean streaks on some floors and longer drying times. Turn the flow down if you see either.

Owners are happy with it on mixed floors. One Reddit buyer said it cleaned parquet without leaving marks, and another was still satisfied after about a year on wood, tile and rugs.

On sensitive or porous floors, experiment with the water level and cleaning solution before you settle on a routine.

Mopping tip: Start at a low water setting and raise it only if floors still look dirty. On hardwood, a lighter setting cuts streaks and drying time.

Obstacle avoidance

This is the weak spot.

Vacuum Wars found it avoided only 6 of 24 obstacles, against an average of 16.6 and 19 for the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra.

GearLab saw it avoid about half of its obstacles, and it ran into four of six simulated pet messes. It also tried to drive over a thin charging cable rather than steer around it.

Android Authority had a better experience in a tidier home. The S5V worked around dining-table legs and reached edges well, though bath mats could bunch up.

Before every run: Do a two-minute floor sweep. Pick up charging cables, socks, small toys and anything a pet may have left behind, and tuck in curtain and lamp cords.

Use the app to draw no-go zones around spots you can’t clear, such as a desk full of cables or pet bowls.

So the problem is recognition, not mapping. GearLab found setup simple, with maps for up to four floors, editable room boundaries and a custom cleaning order, and the robot reliably found its way back to the dock.

Battery, coverage and noise

Vacuum Wars estimated coverage at about 1,243 square feet per charge, against a 1,015 square foot average.

It also covers ground quickly, at about 8.8 square feet per minute against a 7.5 average.

Battery efficiency itself is only slightly above average, at 1.4 minutes per 1% of charge against 1.3.

In bigger homes, expect a recharge mid-run. One Reddit owner with about 2,000 square feet runs it every other night; at around 15% it returns to the dock, recharges and resumes cleaning.

Noise

GearLab measured 54.7 dB during standard vacuuming, below the 58.1 dB average. That is quiet enough to run while you work or relax at home.

The dock is noticeably louder while it empties the bin.

Quiet tip: Turn on do-not-disturb hours in the app so the dock doesn’t empty itself late at night.

6 tips to get the best results from the Qrevo S5V

  1. Clear the floor first

Obstacle avoidance is the weak spot, so a quick pickup before each run prevents most problems.

  2. Set no-go and no-mop zones

Block off cable clusters, pet bowls and delicate rugs in the app so the robot never gets near them.

  3. Watch out for bath mats

Thin, light mats can bunch up. Lift them before a run or mark them as a no-go zone.

  4. Dial in the water flow

It uses more water than average. Begin low and work up until floors look clean without streaks.

  5. Run it often if you have pets

Frequent, shorter runs keep loose fur under control better than one big clean.

  6. Keep a handheld nearby

Floor gaps, tight corners and deeply embedded grit still benefit from a quick manual vacuum now and then.

Maintenance: what you still have to do

Refill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water tank regularly.

Replace the dust bag roughly every 10 weeks.

The onboard dustbin is small, so the robot returns to empty more often in dusty homes.

Clean the filter regularly, and check the brushes, sensors and wheels now and then.

Add cleaning solution to the clean tank yourself, since the dock does not dispense detergent.

Maintenance checklist
Clean water tankRefill as needed
Dirty water tankEmpty and rinse
Cleaning solutionAdd by hand
Dust bagAbout every 10 weeks
FilterClean regularly

The anti-tangle brush helps: there should be far less hair to cut off the roller than on older robots.

The Roborock app

You get room-specific suction and mopping settings, scheduling, virtual barriers, no-mop zones, map editing and custom cleaning sequences.

GearLab also highlighted multi-floor mapping, a child lock, do-not-disturb hours and AI-assisted cleaning suggestions.

Voice control works through Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant, but there is no built-in voice assistant or camera.

Vacuum Wars found the app a little more limited, and occasionally buggier, than on Roborock flagship models.

What owners say

Owner feedback on Reddit is broadly positive.

One owner with four pets and around 2,000 square feet of flooring was still happy after a year of use.

Another found it easy to set up and called it a worthwhile buy, and a third praised its results on parquet.

These are individual experiences rather than controlled tests, but they line up with the lab results.

Is the Roborock Qrevo S5V worth the money?

The Qrevo S5V has a list price of $899.99, but it is often sold at a big discount.

At full price, the weak obstacle avoidance and missing premium features are hard to overlook.

Sale prices around $629 have been common. At that level Vacuum Wars rated it a strong value, beating the pricier MOVA P10 Pro Ultra on deep carpet cleaning, pet hair and mopping, though not on obstacle avoidance.

GearLab gave it 73 overall, seventh of 23 robot vacuums, and Android Authority recommends it as a capable mid-range machine whose dock covers what most homes need.
