The Best Roborock for Pet Hair in 2026

I compared five Roborock robot vacuums for homes with shedding dogs and cats, combining my own hands-on use with published lab tests and owner reports. The Roborock Saros 10R came out on top: its split DuoDivide main brush resists hair wrap, it has the best obstacle avoidance here, and its dock washes and dries the mops for you.

How I tested and researched

Pet hair is a specific problem, so I judged these robots on the things that matter in a home with animals. That means hair pickup on carpet and hard floors, hair wrapped around the brushes, how they handle pet bowls and toys, and how much I had to touch them each week.

I combined what I saw at home with independent lab data. Vacuum Wars runs the same hair-pickup, hair-wrap and obstacle tests on every robot, which makes its numbers useful for comparing models side by side.

Where a lab hasn't published a test for a model, the table says "Not tested" rather than guessing. Specs come from Roborock and the retailer listings.

Who needs a Roborock for pet hair?

If you share your home with a dog or cat, you already know the routine. You vacuum on Sunday, and by Tuesday there are tumbleweeds of fur under the sofa again.

A robot vacuum doesn't replace a deep clean. What it does is stop the fur from building up between those deep cleans.

Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro robot vacuum and dock
A daily run keeps shed hair from piling up between deep cleans.

Running a robot every day, or every other day, is the real win. Hair gets picked up while it is still loose on the surface, before it is walked into the carpet.

That matters most for double-coated breeds like huskies, shepherds and golden retrievers, and for long-haired cats. It also helps during spring and fall shedding, when a single brushing session can fill a bag.

Roborock is a good brand to start with for pets. Its mapping is reliable, its app is one of the better ones, and its newer models use brushes designed specifically to stop hair from wrapping.

The catch is that Roborock sells many similar-sounding models. Picking the wrong one can mean cutting hair off a brush every few days, which defeats the point.

Our picks in depth

Our pickBest for multi-pet homes

Roborock Saros 10R Robot Vacuum

Roborock Saros 10R robot vacuum with its dock

The Roborock Saros 10R is the one I'd buy for a home with pets. It isn't the strongest on paper, but it gets the details right that matter with animals.

The biggest of those details is the main brush. Roborock calls it DuoDivide: two rubber rollers with a gap in the middle, so long hair has nowhere to wrap.

In Vacuum Wars' 7-inch hair test it had zero tangling, against an average of around 39%. It also picked up 92% of flattened pet hair from carpet, well above average.

Tom's Guide tested it for four months with a dog and two cats and reported 98% pet hair pickup on carpet and 100% on hardwood. That lines up with the lab data.

The side brush is the second clever part. It extends outward along baseboards and into corners, which is exactly where fur collects.

The third is obstacle avoidance. The Saros 10R uses 3D time-of-flight sensors and an RGB camera instead of a LiDAR tower, and it scored a perfect 24 out of 24 in Vacuum Wars' obstacle test.

For pet owners, that means it is much more likely to steer around a water bowl, a chew toy, or worse, an accident on the floor.

Dropping the LiDAR tower also makes it just 3.14 inches tall. It slips under sofas and beds where cats tend to hide and shed.

The dock does almost everything. It empties the bin, washes the mop pads with hot water, dries them with warm air, and refills the robot's water.

Mopping with pets is useful for paw prints and drool around the food bowl. The pads lift on carpet, or the robot can leave them in the dock when it vacuums rugs.

The downsides are price and a small 9.1 fl oz onboard bin. In a heavy-shedding home it may need to go back to the dock mid-clean to empty.

Tom's Guide also noted that some long, knotty hair got stuck between the rollers and the bin. And the self-emptying is loud, which can startle a nervous pet.

Pros
  • Split brush resisted hair wrap in lab tests
  • Best obstacle avoidance here
  • Low enough to clean under furniture
  • Dock washes and dries the mops
Cons
  • The most expensive pick
  • Small 9.1 fl oz onboard bin
  • Loud auto-empty

Choose this if you have more than one pet, shed hair everywhere, and want the robot to work around bowls and toys without you tidying first.

Best valueBest for a full dock for less

Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro Robot Vacuum

Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro robot vacuum

The Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro takes the most important pet feature from the Saros line and puts it in a cheaper robot. It also uses a two-part DuoDivide main brush.

Roborock pairs that with what it calls a Dual Anti-Tangle System and claims 0% hair wrap. Basic Tutorials, which reviewed it, was skeptical that the claim holds forever but found hair easy to clear from the brush.

Suction is rated at 25,000 Pa, the highest of any robot here. In Basic Tutorials' test it was excellent on hard floors and good on short-pile carpet, picking up dust, crumbs and pet hair.

It was less convincing on medium and long-pile carpet, where some dirt stayed behind. If your dog sleeps on a shaggy rug, keep that in mind.

The dock is where it punches above its price. It washes the mops with water up to 167°F, dries them with warm air, and empties the bin into a 2.6-quart bag that Roborock says lasts around 65 days.

Hot-water washing matters more with pets than people think. Mop pads that wipe up paw prints and drool can start to smell fast if they are only rinsed in cold water.

The mops also extend on a FlexiArm to reach along walls and furniture legs. They lift 0.59 inches on carpet, the most of any model here.

The weak spots are obstacle detection and the side brush. It uses structured light rather than a camera, and Basic Tutorials found it saw large objects well but missed small ones.

For a pet home, small objects are the risky ones: hair ties, toy mice and anything your dog drags out. You'll want to do a quick floor check before each run.

The side brush is fixed, so corners get a little less attention than with the Saros 10R. The robot is also taller, at about 3.8 inches, because of its LiDAR tower.

You can find the complete test results in our Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro review.

Pros
  • DuoDivide anti-tangle brush
  • Highest rated suction here
  • Hot-water wash and warm-air drying
  • Long rated runtime
Cons
  • Misses small obstacles
  • Fixed side brush
  • Weaker on deep-pile rugs

Choose this if you want a self-cleaning dock and a tangle-resistant brush, and you don't mind picking up small toys before it runs.

Best budgetBest for carpets on a budget

Roborock Q10 S5+ Robot Vacuum

Roborock Q10 S5+ robot vacuum and auto-empty dock

The Roborock Q10 S5+ was the surprise of this group. On pure hair pickup, the lab numbers put it level with robots that cost far more.

Vacuum Wars measured 96% pet hair pickup against an average of about 75%. In its 7-inch hair-wrap test it had zero tangling.

It also removed 96% of embedded sand from carpet, tied for the best result Vacuum Wars has recorded. For a carpet-heavy home with a shedding dog, that is the number to care about.

The main brush has built-in combs that strip hair off as it spins, and Roborock lists dual anti-tangle protection. Rated suction is 10,000 Pa.

The dock empties the 11.8 fl oz bin into a 2.85-quart bag. Roborock says that lasts up to seven weeks, though heavy shedding will shorten it.

Mopping is basic. A single vibrating pad lifts 0.31 inches on carpet, but the dock doesn't wash, dry or refill anything, so you rinse the pad yourself.

The big compromise is obstacle avoidance. Vacuum Wars scored it 6 out of 24, far below average, because it relies on basic structured-light sensors.

In practice, that means toys, socks and cords need to be off the floor. And if your pet ever has accidents indoors, this is not the robot to run while you're out.

Vacuum Wars also mentioned early reports of units failing within days or weeks. Buy from a seller with an easy return window.

There is more on it, including owner feedback, in our Roborock Q10 S5+ review.

Pros
  • Excellent hair pickup in lab tests
  • Zero hair wrap in lab tests
  • Top-tier carpet deep cleaning
  • Auto-empty at a low price
Cons
  • Weak obstacle avoidance
  • No mop washing
  • Some early reliability reports

Choose this if you mostly have carpet, keep your floors tidy, and want the best hair pickup for the money.

Mid-range comboBest for hard floors and mopping

Roborock Qrevo S Pro Robot Vacuum

Roborock Qrevo S Pro robot vacuum with dock

The Roborock Qrevo S Pro is an all-in-one robot for people who want mopping as much as vacuuming. It suits a pet home with mostly hard floors.

Rated suction is 18,500 Pa, and it has a zero-tangle side brush designed to release hair rather than collect it. The main brush is a single roller rather than the split DuoDivide design.

That difference is why it sits below the Qrevo 2 Pro for pet hair. A single roller is more likely to collect long hair over time, so expect to check it more often.

The dock is the strong point. It washes the dual spinning mops with 167°F water, dries them with 113°F air, refills the water tank and empties the bin into a bag that Roborock says lasts about 65 days.

The mops lift 0.39 inches on carpet, which is enough for most low-pile rugs. It can also climb thresholds of about 0.8 inches.

Obstacle avoidance uses structured light and LiDAR. Roborock says it avoids things like cables and socks, but it doesn't have a camera, so it won't recognize pet waste the way the Saros 10R can.

It runs quietly for a robot, at around 55 dB in normal use. The rated runtime of 242 minutes is enough for a large home in one pass.

It is often heavily discounted. At a sale price it is a sensible choice if you have a short-haired pet and lots of tile or wood to mop.

Our full Roborock Qrevo S Pro review has the lab numbers and what owners say about it.

Pros
  • Hot-water mop washing and drying
  • Zero-tangle side brush
  • Long runtime
  • Frequent big discounts
Cons
  • Single main brush, not split
  • No camera for pet waste
  • Taller, at 3.8 inches

Choose this if you have mostly hard floors, a short-haired pet, and want the dock to handle mop cleaning.

Cheapest way inBest for small apartments

Roborock Q7 M5+ Robot Vacuum

Roborock Q7 M5+ robot vacuum and dock

The Roborock Q7 M5+ is the most affordable way to get a Roborock with LiDAR mapping and an auto-empty dock. For a small apartment with one cat, it can be enough.

Suction is rated at 10,000 Pa, and it performed strongly in Vacuum Wars' suction test. SlashGear found it picked up cat litter, dirt and pet hair well on the MAX+ setting.

The lower settings were less reliable, pushing bigger debris around. If you have pets, set it to MAX+ and leave it there.

Hair is its weak spot. It uses a bristle roller with a comb, and in Vacuum Wars' tests 43% of long hair wrapped around it, worse than average.

Its flattened pet-hair pickup on carpet was 79%, about average and well behind the Q10 S5+.

The mop is a flat pad that drags along the floor. It doesn't lift, so you remove it before cleaning carpets, and you wash it yourself.

There is no front obstacle avoidance at all, so the floor has to be clear. Some owners also report Wi-Fi drops, charging problems and getting stuck on rugs.

The dock bag is 2.85 quarts and Roborock says it lasts up to seven weeks. That's a real convenience at this price.

For more detail on the dock, mopping and upkeep, see our full Roborock Q7 M5+ review.

Pros
  • Low price for LiDAR and auto-empty
  • Strong suction on MAX+
  • Long rated runtime on low power
Cons
  • Hair wraps around the brush
  • No obstacle avoidance
  • Basic mop with no lift

Choose this if you live in a small space with one light-shedding pet and want automated vacuuming for the least money.

Why the brush matters more than suction

If you take one thing from this guide, make it this: for pet hair, brush design beats the suction number on the box.

Suction ratings in pascals are measured by the manufacturer in ideal conditions. They don't tell you how well the brush grabs hair from carpet, or how much of it ends up wrapped around the roller.

Roborock Saros 10R underside
The split DuoDivide brush gives long hair nowhere to wrap.

The lab results show this clearly. The Q10 S5+ is rated at 10,000 Pa and still matched or beat far more powerful robots on pet hair pickup.

The Q7 M5+ has the same 10,000 Pa rating, but its bristle roller let 43% of long hair wrap around it. Same number, very different experience.

The takeaway

For pet hair, check the brush before the suction number. A split or comb-equipped brush matters more than an extra 10,000 Pa.

Hair wrap matters because it builds up. A wrapped brush makes less contact with the floor, picks up less, and eventually needs cutting free with scissors.

Look for a split or tapered roller, like Roborock's DuoDivide, or a brush with built-in combs. Rubber rollers also tend to release hair more easily than bristles.

Check the side brush too. Long hair loves to wrap around the side-brush hub, and Roborock's newer zero-tangle and extending side brushes help with that.

My tip: Never yank wrapped hair off a brush. Snip along the groove with small scissors or a seam ripper, then slide the strands off. Pulling hard can bend the bristles and strain the motor.

What to look for in a robot vacuum for pet hair

Tangle-resistant brushes

This is the first thing I check. A split rubber roller or a brush with combs means far less time cutting hair off with scissors.

If you have a long-haired cat or a dog with a thick undercoat, don't compromise here.

Obstacle avoidance

Pets leave things on the floor: toys, bowls, chewed cables and, now and then, accidents. A robot that drives through any of these makes a bigger mess than the hair it was meant to clean.

Roborock Saros 10R robot vacuum
The Saros 10R's camera-based system scored perfectly in obstacle tests.

Camera-based systems like the Saros 10R's can recognize specific objects. Structured-light sensors see shapes but miss small or flat things.

If your pet has accidents, or you run the robot while you're out, pay for good obstacle avoidance.

A self-emptying dock

Pet hair fills a small robot bin fast. Every model in this guide has an auto-empty dock, and I wouldn't buy a pet robot without one.

Bag-life claims of seven to nine weeks assume an average home. With a shedding dog, plan for bags to fill sooner.

Carpet performance

Hair sinks into carpet fibers and clings there. Look for good deep-clean results and an automatic carpet boost that raises suction on rugs.

Deep-pile and shag rugs are hard for every robot. Expect to give them an upright vacuum now and then.

Mopping that suits pets

Mopping is handy for paw prints and the splash zone around a water bowl. But a dirty, damp mop pad smells quickly.

Roborock Qrevo S Pro dock
Hot-water washing and drying keep mop pads from smelling.

A dock that washes with hot water and dries with warm air solves that. So does a mop that lifts on carpet, so it doesn't drag wet pads over your rug.

Height and edges

Pets shed where they sleep and hide: under beds, sofas and along baseboards. A low robot and an extending side brush reach more of those spots.

The Saros 10R is the standout, at 3.14 inches tall with a side brush that swings out into corners.

My tip: Measure the gap under your sofa and bed before you buy. A robot that can't fit under them will leave the hairiest spots untouched.

Which one fits your home and pets?

The right Roborock depends on your pets, your floors and how tidy you can keep them. Here's how I'd match them up.

Several pets, or a heavy shedder

Get the Saros 10R. The split brush, extending side brush and obstacle avoidance all pay off when there's fur everywhere and toys on the floor.

One dog or cat, and you want a full dock

The Qrevo 2 Pro gets you the same brush idea and hot-water mop washing for much less. Just pick up small items before it runs.

Mostly carpet, tighter budget

The Q10 S5+ had the best carpet and hair numbers in its price range. Keep the floor clear, because it won't avoid much.

Hard floors and a short-haired pet

The Qrevo S Pro mops well and takes care of its own pads. Short hair is less likely to wrap its single brush.

A small apartment and a light shedder

The Q7 M5+ is the cheapest way to get mapping and auto-empty. Expect to clear its brush more often.

My tip: Choose based on your floors first and your pet second. Carpet-heavy homes get more from strong carpet cleaning. Hard-floor homes get more from a good mop and a dock that washes it. Our guides to the best Roborock for carpets and the best Roborock for hardwood floors go deeper on each.

Living with a robot and pets

Most dogs and cats get used to a robot vacuum within a few days. Some ignore it from the start, and a few cats like riding on top of it.

Start by running it while you're home, so you can see how your pet reacts. Then schedule it for when the house is quiet, like a daily walk.

My tip: Leave the robot switched off in the room for a day or two before its first run, so your pet can sniff it. A few treats near the dock help nervous pets make friends with it.

Roborock Q10 S5+ robot vacuum
Daily runs while you're out keep shedding under control.

The self-emptying dock is the loudest part. If your pet is noise-sensitive, set do-not-disturb hours in the Roborock app or move the dock away from their bed.

Use no-go zones around food and water bowls and the litter box. Robots and kicked-out litter don't mix, and you don't want a wet bowl tipped over.

Never run a robot without obstacle avoidance while a puppy is still house-training. A pet accident spread across the floor is the one mess worse than fur.

During shedding season, run it every day. It's far easier to keep up than to catch up.

Watch out

Pick up charging cables, shoelaces and string toys before a run. Even robots with good obstacle avoidance can get tangled in thin cords, and a chewed-up toy string is one more thing to cut off the brush.

What does it cost to keep running?

The robot is only part of the cost. Dust bags, filters, brushes and mop pads all need replacing, and pet hair wears them faster.

Dust bags are the main recurring cost. With a shedding dog, assume you'll replace one roughly every month or two, rather than the seven to nine weeks Roborock quotes.

Roborock Q7 M5+ auto-empty dock
Auto-empty docks need replacement bags every few weeks with pets.

Filters clog sooner with fine pet dander. Tap them out weekly and replace them every few months.

Maintenance schedule with pets
Clear hair from brushesWeekly
Tap out the filterWeekly
Replace the filterEvery 2–3 months
Replace the dust bagEvery 4–8 weeks
Replace the side brushEvery 3–6 months
Replace the main brushEvery 6–12 months

A rough guide for a home with a shedding dog or cat. Check your model's app for its own reminders.

Electricity is a small cost. Hot-water mop washing uses more power than plain vacuuming, but it is still small compared with consumables.

Third-party accessory kits are cheaper than Roborock's own. Check they match your exact model, because brush and filter shapes differ between the Q, Qrevo and Saros lines.

My tip: Buy a year's worth of bags and filters along with the robot. Accessory bundles often cost less per piece, and you won't run out in the middle of shedding season.

How I scored them

Each robot got a score out of 10 that weighs the things that matter most with pets. Hair handling counts the most.

Hair pickup: how much pet hair it collected from carpet and hard floors.

Hair wrap: how much hair ended up around the main and side brushes.

Obstacle avoidance: how well it steered around bowls, toys, cables and pet messes.

Carpet: how deeply it cleaned rugs, where hair clings.

Dock and maintenance: how much the dock does for you, and how often I had to step in.

Value: what you get for the price.

The Saros 10R won because it was strong in every category. The Q10 S5+ scored highly on hair and carpet but lost points for obstacle avoidance.

In a pet home, the best setup is usually a robot for daily upkeep plus a stick or upright for stairs, sofas and a monthly deep clean.

The robot stops fur from building up. The handheld vacuum handles the places a robot can't reach.

My tip: If you're buying a second vacuum to go with the robot, a cordless stick with a motorized pet tool is the best partner. It handles stairs, the sofa and the cat tree in minutes.

Tips to get better results with pet hair

  1. Run it daily during shedding season

Loose hair is easy to pick up. Hair that has been walked into the carpet is not.

  2. Check the brush weekly

Even anti-tangle brushes collect some hair at the ends and axles. Pull it off before it builds up.

  3. Clean the filter often

Pet dander clogs filters fast, and a clogged filter cuts suction.

  4. Use max suction on carpet

Turn on carpet boost, or set rugs to max in the app. Lower settings can leave hair behind.

  5. Set no-go zones

Keep the robot away from food bowls, water bowls and the litter box.

  6. Brush your pet

Every hair you brush out is one the robot doesn't have to find.

  7. Learn the error codes

Hair wrapped around the main brush is the most common reason a robot stalls in a pet home. If yours stops with an alert, our Roborock error codes guide explains what each one means and how to clear it.

Shedding season plan
Spring (March–May)Daily runs, check the brush twice a week
SummerEvery other day
Fall (September–November)Daily runs, check the brush twice a week
WinterEvery other day

Indoor pets can shed year-round, so adjust to what you see on the floor.

What I'm testing next

Next, I want to see how each robot's brush and dock hold up after several months of shedding seasons.

I'll update this guide as I add results and as Roborock releases new models.

Frequently asked questions

Which Roborock is best for pet hair?

The Saros 10R is the best overall for pet hair, thanks to its split DuoDivide brush, extending side brush and excellent obstacle avoidance. The Q10 S5+ is the best budget choice.

Do Roborock vacuums get tangled with pet hair?

It depends on the brush. Models with the split DuoDivide brush or comb-equipped brushes resisted hair wrap in lab tests, while the Q7 M5+'s bristle roller let a lot of long hair wrap.

Is higher suction better for pet hair?

Not by itself. Brush design and carpet contact matter more. The 10,000 Pa Q10 S5+ matched far more powerful robots on hair pickup in lab tests.

Will a Roborock avoid pet poop?

The Saros 10R uses a camera-based system that recognizes pet waste among many objects. Cheaper models without a camera can't reliably avoid it, so don't run them unattended with a pet that has accidents.

How often should I run a robot vacuum with pets?

Daily is best with heavy shedders, especially during spring and fall. Every other day is enough for most single-pet homes.

How long does a dust bag last with pets?

Roborock quotes seven to nine weeks for an average home. With a shedding dog or several cats, expect to replace bags more often.

Can a robot vacuum replace my regular vacuum?

For daily upkeep, yes. You'll still want a handheld or upright vacuum for stairs, upholstery and occasional deep cleaning of thick rugs.

Are robot vacuums safe around pets?

Yes. They move slowly and stop when they bump into things. Some pets are nervous at first, so run it while you're home for the first few days.
