My verdict: is the Roborock Qrevo CurvX worth it?

The Roborock Qrevo CurvX is one of the best all-rounders you can buy for a home with mixed floors, long-haired pets and low furniture. Its deep-carpet cleaning tied for third out of more than 205 robots in Vacuum Wars' lab, it didn't tangle a single hair in the hair test, and its retractable LiDAR lets it clean under sofas that stop other flagship robots. It isn't flawless: the onboard dustbin is small, it can be slow, tall thresholds are hit or miss, and long-term testing turned up two annoying design quirks. At full launch price it's a stretch. On sale, it's an easy recommendation.

First impressions of the Roborock Qrevo CurvX

The CurvX shares the soft, rounded dock of the Qrevo Curv family, which looks more like a piece of furniture than a cleaning station.

The robot is the interesting part. At just 3.14 inches tall, it was the slimmest robot in the Qrevo line when it launched, yet it still has a LiDAR tower on top.

The trick is that the tower drops down when the robot heads under low furniture and rises again in open space.

The rounded Thermo+ dock is designed to blend into a living space.

What the Qrevo CurvX actually is

The Qrevo CurvX is a premium robot vacuum and mop with a multifunction dock that empties the dustbin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.

It's rated at 22,000 Pa of suction and uses Roborock's DuoDivide split main brush plus an anti-tangle side brush to deal with long hair.

For navigation, it combines retractable LiDAR with Roborock's Reactive AI obstacle avoidance, which uses an RGB camera and structured light to recognize 108 types of objects.

Mopping is handled by two spinning pads, and an AdaptiLift chassis raises the robot over rug edges and thresholds.

Good to know: Advertised suction (Pa) is not a reliable predictor of cleaning results. The CurvX measured below average for airflow and suction in lab testing, yet it was one of the best carpet cleaners tested. Brush design, floor contact and navigation matter just as much.

RetractSense LiDAR: the feature that sets it apart

Most robot vacuums force a trade-off. Taller robots carry a LiDAR tower for accurate mapping but can't fit under many sofas and beds. Slimmer robots fit underneath but usually give up some navigation smarts.

The CurvX avoids that compromise. An upward-facing sensor measures the clearance ahead, and the LiDAR tower lowers only when it needs to, bringing the robot down to 3.14 inches. In open areas, the tower rises again for a full 360-degree scan.

Just A Dad Approved, which tested the CurvX for more than eight months, called it the first robot in its testing to combine full LiDAR navigation, an ultra-slim body and flagship features without a major compromise. It reached spaces other robots couldn't.

Owners upgrading from older Roomba models report the same thing: the CurvX cleans under furniture their old robot never reached, and mapping and app control are a big step up.

From owner discussions on RedditWhere the retractable LiDAR still stumbles
One owner's map became corrupted, with the dock showing up in a room that doesn't exist. Restoring a saved map fixed it. Glass and mirrors may have played a part, but the cause wasn't confirmed.
Another owner had to spend time adjusting room divisions and carpet settings after the first mapping run.

Tip: Once your map looks right, save a backup copy in the app. If the map ever gets scrambled, you can restore it in seconds instead of remapping your whole home.

Vacuuming: one of its biggest strengths

In Vacuum Wars' deep-carpet test, the CurvX pulled 92% of embedded sand out of medium-pile carpet. That tied it for third place among more than 205 robot vacuums tested, well above the 77% average, and matches the original Qrevo Curv.

Average robot77%
Hair wrapped on brushes (lower is better)
Qrevo CurvX0%
Average robot28%
Obstacle avoidance (out of 24 points)
Qrevo CurvX20
Average robot17

What makes that result interesting is that the CurvX's raw numbers were below average. At maximum power, Vacuum Wars measured 13 cubic feet per minute of airflow against a 16.8 CFM average, and suction of about 2.2 inches of water lift against an average of about 3.9 inches.

In day-to-day use, it handles routine debris well on hardwood, tile and low- to medium-pile carpet. Just A Dad Approved rated its carpet cleaning 8 out of 10 after months of household use, and several Reddit owners reported cleaner carpets and far fewer pet hair tumbleweeds.

Not every owner agrees, though. At least one reported that the robot sometimes drove over dog hair without picking it up, and another suspected that debris can slip through the gap in the split roller. That's anecdotal, but it's a reminder that great lab scores don't guarantee perfect pickup in every home.

Pet hair: a big win for pet owners

The DuoDivide split main brush is one of the CurvX's most convincing features. It steers hair toward the center of the brush, where it gets sucked up instead of wrapping around the roller.

In Vacuum Wars' 7-inch hair test, the CurvX recorded 0% tangling, against an average of 28%. More telling, Just A Dad Approved rated hair-tangle resistance 9 out of 10 after more than eight months in a home with long-haired pets, and reported that the main brush stayed remarkably clean the whole time.

Reddit owners with dogs and cats describe the same thing: fewer tumbleweeds, less manual cleanup, and in one case far less need to vacuum and mop by hand at all.

Just keep in mind that tangle-free isn't the same as perfect pickup. Some owners found suction disappointing on loose dog hair on carpet, and the small onboard dustbin fills quickly in a shedding household.

Tip for heavy shedders: Schedule shorter, more frequent runs, such as one quick daily pass, instead of one long weekly clean. The robot empties itself into the dock between runs, so the small onboard bin is far less of an issue.

Obstacle avoidance and navigation

Reactive AI uses an RGB camera and structured light to spot and steer around clutter. Vacuum Wars scored it 20 out of 24 for obstacle avoidance, ahead of both the average robot and the original Qrevo Curv (17 each). Just A Dad Approved gave it 9 out of 10 for handling obstacles and clutter.

Owners report that it reliably avoids shoes, charging cables, pet bowls, toys and pets. One household with three cats was especially impressed.

It isn't perfect. One Reddit reviewer said it can still swallow cords, although its brushes let go of a cable more easily than the original Curv's. Others mention occasional bumps into furniture and trouble with chair and bar stool legs.

It can be slow

Careful navigation comes at a cost. One owner reported that the CurvX took more than three hours to clean about 1,200 square feet of hardwood, while their older Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra handled a similar job in just over an hour. That's a single comparison, not a controlled test, but it's worth knowing if you have a large home.

Tip: Do a 2-minute pickup of cords, socks and small toys before each run, and turn on the more sensitive obstacle setting if you have delicate furniture legs. It slows the robot down a little, but it cuts down on bumps and snags.

At 3.14 inches tall, the robot reaches under furniture that stops taller robots.

Mopping: good results, with a water caveat

The CurvX mops with two spinning microfiber pads. They spin at up to 200 RPM, press down with about 2.7 pounds of force in Deep Cleaning mode, and lift automatically when the robot rolls onto carpet. An extending mop pad and side brush reach along baseboards and into corners.

Vacuum Wars initially flagged how much water it uses. Even on the lowest setting, it put down more than twice as much water as the average robot tested. That's a common cause of streaks on dark floors.

Follow-up testing on dark floors over several runs, however, didn't show the streaking Vacuum Wars expected. The reviewer concluded the original scoring penalized water use too heavily, and after the change the CurvX rose to number two on Vacuum Wars' Top 20 Robot Vacuums list at the time.

Just A Dad Approved rated mopping 8 out of 10 for consistently clean floors over months of use, and singled out the extending pad for edge cleaning. One owner noticed the robot heading back for a second mopping pass on its own after the dock detected extra dirt while rinsing the pads.

The weak spot is consistency. One Reddit reviewer found that it sometimes failed to go back and clean a mess, even with AI mode on. Smart dirt detection is helpful, but don't count on it every time.

Tip for dark or glossy floors: Start on the lowest water setting and check for streaks after the first few runs before turning it up. For sticky spills, run a targeted spot clean on that room instead of trusting the robot to come back on its own.

AdaptiLift: great on rugs, less so on tall thresholds

The AdaptiLift chassis can raise the robot and tilt individual sections to deal with rug edges and uneven floors. Roborock rates it for single thresholds up to about 1.2 inches and two-step transitions up to about 1.6 inches.

On carpet transitions, it works well. On tall thresholds, it's less convincing. In Just A Dad Approved's "advertised vs. reality" check, threshold climbing was the one area that fell short of Roborock's claims.

Roborock's claimWhat testers found
Slim enough for low furnitureConfirmed. Reached spaces other robots couldn't
Zero-tangle brushesConfirmed. 0% tangling, clean brush after 8+ months
Smart obstacle avoidanceMostly confirmed. 20/24, but cords can still get caught
Lifting chassis for carpetsConfirmed. Handles rug edges well
Climbs thresholds up to ~1.6 inFell short on tall thresholds

Measure before you buy: Grab a tape measure and check your tallest door threshold or step-up. If it's over about an inch, treat it as a question mark and buy from a store with easy returns, or add an inexpensive threshold ramp.

The Thermo+ dock

Roborock calls this the Multifunctional Dock 3.0 Thermo+, and it's central to the CurvX's hands-free appeal.

  • Empties the robot's dustbin automatically
  • Refills the onboard water tank
  • Washes the mop pads with 176°F water and dries them with 113°F warm air
  • Adds extra wash cycles when the rinse water looks dirty
  • Cleans its own washing tray, which you can also pull out for a deeper clean

The catch is the dust bag. Just A Dad Approved found that it doesn't seat fully in the dock cavity, so it seems to fill faster than its rated capacity. The bag still works, but you'll likely replace it more often than you'd expect. The reviewer noted the same issue on other Curv-family models.

How loud is the Qrevo CurvX?

Spec sites list the CurvX at around 62 dB, which is typical for a robot with this much suction on a higher setting.

Quieter modes are available in the app for runs while you're home. The auto-empty cycle is the loudest moment, but it only lasts a few seconds.

Tip: Schedule full cleans for when you're out of the house, and use quiet mode for quick touch-ups in the evening.

Maintenance: what you still have to do

The dock takes over most of the dirty work, but not all of it. Here's a realistic routine.

  1. Every few days: refill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water tank.
  2. Weekly: wipe the camera and sensors, and check the wheels and side brush for debris.
  3. Every few weeks: pull out and rinse the dock's washing tray.
  4. When the app tells you: replace the dust bag. Expect this sooner than the rated capacity suggests.
  5. Over time: replace mop pads, filters, side brushes and dust bags as they wear.
Estimated running costs

Your real cost depends on how often the robot runs and how often you replace parts.

The dock washes and dries the pads, but the water tanks still need you now and then.

The Roborock app

The Roborock app is one of the most complete in the category. You get detailed room maps, schedules, no-go zones, cleaning along the direction of your floorboards, per-room suction and water levels, and SmartPlan, which adapts settings room by room.

Pet owners get camera-based monitoring, pet detection and two-way talk through the robot. It also supports Matter, Roborock's Hello Rocky voice assistant, Alexa, Google Home and Siri.

One Reddit owner struggled to find voice commands that reliably cleaned a single room, so plan on starting room cleans from the app.

Known flaws after long-term use

Most of the CurvX's weak points only show up after weeks of use. Here's what testers and owners ran into.

The top lid pops off

After bumping into furniture, the top lid sometimes comes loose. It snaps right back on, but it's an annoyance on a premium robot.

The dust bag fills early

The bag doesn't sit fully in the dock, so it fills faster than its capacity suggests.

Small onboard bin

Even with auto-empty, homes with heavy shedders may need extra runs.

Hardware and warranty stories

A few Reddit owners report early hardware failures and slow warranty claims. These are anecdotes, not a failure rate, but buy where returns are easy.

To be fair, Roborock scored well for customer service in Vacuum Wars' broader brand evaluation, though individual experiences vary.

Is the Roborock Qrevo CurvX worth the money?

The Qrevo CurvX launched at $1,499.99, but it's frequently discounted. Reviewers have seen it at $749.99, and one owner reported paying around $765.

At those prices, you get a combination that cheaper robots rarely offer: excellent carpet cleaning, tangle-free brushes, full LiDAR mapping in a body slim enough for low furniture, and a dock that handles almost all the upkeep.

If you mainly need a mopping specialist, a faster cleaner, or a robot that reliably climbs tall thresholds, other models are a better fit. If your floors are open and flat, the Qrevo 2 Pro covers most of the basics for less.

Buying tip: Don't pay the full $1,499.99. Roborock runs frequent sales, and the CurvX has dropped to around half its launch price. Check the current price, and if it isn't discounted, wait for the next sale event like Prime Day or Black Friday.

Best Roborock Qrevo CurvX alternatives

If you don't need the slim body, there are cheaper ways to get a full-service dock.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv has a similar rounded dock and lifting chassis in a taller body, and matched the CurvX's deep-carpet score in lab testing.

The Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro is the value pick, with FlexiArm mopping and hot-water washing.

For low furniture on a smaller budget, the Roborock Qrevo Slim is worth a look.

How I tested and scored the Roborock Qrevo CurvX

I scored four areas, and each gets its own subscore.

  • Vacuuming (8.7): pickup on hard floors, rugs and carpet, including pet hair and tangling.
  • Mopping (8.4): everyday dirt, dried stains, streaking and edge coverage.
  • Navigation (8.6): mapping, getting under furniture, thresholds, obstacle avoidance and cleaning speed.
  • Dock and upkeep (8.5): how much of the maintenance the dock takes over, running costs and what is left for you.

The overall score is an editorial rating. I also compared my results with Vacuum Wars' controlled lab tests, Just A Dad Approved's 8-month-plus long-term review, owner reports on Reddit and Roborock's published specifications.

Roborock Qrevo CurvX FAQ

Is the Roborock Qrevo CurvX worth it?
